Catalina State Park Spring 2010

Catalina State Park Spring 2010
Catalina State Park sits at the base of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains. The park is a haven for desert plants and wildlife and nearly 5,000 saguaros. The 5,500 acres of foothills, canyons and streams invites camping, picnicking and bird watching — more than 150 species of birds call the park home. The park provides miles of equestrian, birding, hiking, and biking trails which wind through the park and into the Coronado National Forest at elevations near 3,000 feet. The park is located within minutes of the Tucson metropolitan area. 2010 has proven to be an incredible year for wildflowers in Arizona and in the park! We spent hours exploring the area. Hint: The horse trails provided better view of the wildflowers those trails more travelled.

TC, these are great pictures! Are you using a macro for the closeup flowers?

Jack,
Thanks for the comments! Actually these photos were shot with the Nikkor 18-135mm. I do not have a macro lens these days. I do have a set of extension tubes that I use for flowers on occasion, but not this trip. Everything handheld this trip as well.

Awesome poppies and saguaro shots, TC. Thanks once again for bringing a slice of the Old Pueblo to my midwest life.
